What is yr ideal Highlights Video like?

September 29, 2008 Sean Seah 1 comment

I have been making wedding videos for a while now n tried a variety of styles. At the end of the day, what do folks really like to see in a video? I like some response from all of u out there, married or not, video taken or now. This is yr chance to tell the video dude what u really hope to see!

This poll would be interesting to analyse some results. We all need positive inputs. Pls post yr comment directly or drop me an email at seahkws@gmail.com . Hope to hear from u folks!

1. What is the highlight of the Day? From the prep to the gatecrash to picking the bride to tea ceremony. What do u think is the most impt event of the day?

2. What do you think are the characteristics of a great wedding video? Touching? Documentation (everything in)? Funny (Will anyone remember the video the next day?)

3. How long should the video be? 3/4/5/6/7? I’m sure everyone has seen a wedding video at some point of yr life. Have u ever felt the video was too long or short? Boring/ repetitive/ Nice?

4. 10 years down the road review. Yr kiddo is 8 years old and asks to watch yr video and goes, “Eek, so chessy wan!” or “Wah, so romantic mummy…/daddy”. What do you like them to say?

5. A day to nite summary video in one? Or two separate videos highlights in the final production?

Save the Date – Serene & Gary

Here it comes! Old school.. kinda fun but it drizzled and I had to struggle to keep the cam from rain plus try to be steady. We did not have much light by the time of the wedding gown shoot. Hope the folks are happy but KC definately excelled in those shots! Enjoy..

SG Nites – Demo Reel

September 20, 2008 Sean Seah 1 comment

In line with a new collobration, I produced a 30sec clip for a camera review. YOu will know pretty soon. I had some fun shooting tonight, especially trying to drive with my hands at the bottom of the steering wheel all the time!

I suspect some drivers noticed me on the TPE and slowed down! Luckily I didnt cause any accident. I’m not really happy with the clip still so I may bump it up with more footage. I’ll see how it goes.

What a long day it has been. This is a job with Lightbox and we started a mth ago shooting the pre wedding Life Journal – “Hooked”. Their big day finally arrived and the crowd was really nice. Lotsa sporting folks and fun going on. Only thing it was so packed with activities, we had no opportunities to do many creatives shots.

As I had a day in between, I decided to add some specials on top of the usual SDE. So, that is y it took so long! I have to get some sleep now. The videos will be up tomorrow evening hopefully

Thks Chee Seng for sticking ard today, Jos & Lena for being a really nice couple!

:)

ok, video is up!

Sony Z5 has arrived!

September 5, 2008 Sean Seah Leave a comment

Ooh.. its exciting enough to have the new Sony FULL HD cams and yesterday, Sony announced another 2 new HDV cams to add to the arsenal. So, what is HDV and FULL HD? Basically here in Singapore, we are watching SD on TV. And now there is the HD-5 which touts HD quality broadcast. HDV is the in between. It is better than SD, but less resolution than FULL HD. FULL HD is another arena of discussion but there are several resolutions which is considered FULL HD. Anyway, I’m a proud FULL HD cam owner. Not the best but I’m contented.

Chromakey is FUN!!

September 3, 2008 Sean Seah 2 comments

I was to shoot the liondance competition at Taka today but it rained (again) ! So I was on my way home but suddenly decided to swing by Arab street to buy a green cloth. I ended up spending $15 at Osman Silk house near my fav Zam Zam prata joint. After a quick dinner, the cloth was on a bamboo with 4 lights up. 2 are ceiling lamps, one is a desk lamp and the last lamp is the Sony LED lamp. I made 3 attempts n it didnt turn out too bad! It is my first attempt at chromakeying tonight actually!

OH, did I hear what the heck is “chromakey” ?Ah ok.. it is a technique that is used to “key” out a certain colour in order to get the background removed totally. That is how superman can fly!

PS: For those of u trying at home, you need to shoot in progressive mode, ensure event background lighting (hint: use the zebra) and diffuse the light with a cheap white cloth or something. I didnt do if u notice the reflection in my glasses.

Another old photo I dug up from my recovered HDD! Was in NS last year and I was assigned to shoot a parade. That is my trusty old steadicam and camera. Ha ha I kinda like the military fatigue look ;p
